After weeks of being followed by some unseen thing, suddenly, the shadow appears! It's a mole! She swung down from a vine when Trudy reached the edge of the farmlands and introduced herself. Her name is Rue and she lives on a failed worm farm with her widower father. With the worms all gone and the land dried up, they now farm greens and trade them at the port.
Rue has been having prophetic dreams telling her to find Trudy and so she set out with her father's blessing to bring Trudy to the farm for help. It's been a long time since Trudy has been with other moles, she's excited to take Rue's hand and go. The future sure got interesting for our Trudy!
Oh my word, a handsome guy! Bo sees his daughter Rue and a new friend coming around the way. He's grateful that the famous sorcerer Trudy has agreed to come help him and Rue. He invites Trudy over to his simple hovel for dinner, and to give her news from the Crystal Mines... Trudy is flattered and accepts!
Trudy, Rue and Bo sit down to a simple dinner in Bo's meager hovel. There's not much wealth out here in the old flats- not much to be made from farming but it's a living... Bo has exciting news; he's in regular contact with the Crystal Mines and has a recent letter from Judy Mole for Trudy Mole! Though the letter is months old, it is sure to help Trudy on her journey...
